This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Zayquon "Z" Hammond who was born in Missouri on February 09, 2003 and passed away on February 01, 2005 at the tender age of 1. All though Z's life was brutally cut short and his time here was brief, we will remember him in our hearts forever.
UPDATE!!!
Ryan Wiss Plead guilty on April 3,2006.As a result of a plea arrangement made with the maternal side of the family, Wiss will serve 25 and a half years in prison for the murder of Z. The paternal side of the family has always maintained in accordance with the state and local laws, the mother had care, custody, and control of the child and therefor knew or had reason to know that Z was in danger. The prosecution has gone as far as to say that the the motivations of family members were politically motivated (although once called to carpet on this allegation, they recanted). As one local report stated, "we are only interested in stories that involve crime, not community outrage and injustice." The paternal side of Zayquons family has always maintainted that under the laws of this state, the mother of Z should have been prosecuted along side the guilty. Yet in the media and by the prosecution we have been labled as angry and unreasonble. We ask that you continue to check this website for update photos that the paternal side of the family has of their loving Zayquon at his final rest. It is within these photos that the extent of the abuse and the bungling of this case by the prosecution will be evident. Let's make Z's Law every man's law. Let's put an end to what has become an acceptable feeding frenzy on our nations young.
The paternal side of Z's family ask that you join in on supporting legislation and penalities against those who commit crimes against children.I ask that you contact the Jackson county prosecutors office (816) 881-3123 or 881-3000 and ask for Prosecutor Browyn Werner, Calvin Wilford, or Mike Sanders to voice your opinion. We thank EVERYONE for their support inspite of the overtones the media tries spend! Thank you.

Go Chiefs!!! First down, second down, a yard to go
These are all things that Lil Z knows
Tony Gonzales and Priest Holmes
Making that run towards the end zone
Six points, the extra point, a field goal kick
A fan to the heart, Lil Z never quit
So Go Chiefs! Go Chiefs Go!
Lil Z is in heaven cheering you so!

A Young Life Remembered Zayquon Hammond was born unto this world a prince to his loving father Donta. He leaves behind not just the pain of his heartless death, but a legacy of laughter, smiles, energy, love, and kindness. In the spirit of the life that was Zayquon Hammond's, this space here is dedicated to his love, his laughter, and his infectious smile. Long live the smile of an innocent child and long live the love of a father for his son. |
